BOSTON (AP) -- Rashad Bell scored a career-high 29 points and Chaz Carr added 24 points to lead Boston University past Vermont 61-55 on Saturday.

The Terriers 18-5, 12-2 America East) snapped Vermont's 15-game winning streak, despite 37 points and 13 rebounds from Taylor Coppenrath, and moved within one game of the Catamounts (18-4, 13-1) for first place in the America East.

T.J Sorrentine shot just 2-of-16 from the field, but he hit a pair of 3-pointers to help bring Vermont even at 47-all with 9:01 left. Boston U. responded by holding the Catamounts to just two points over the next 7:19, and Bell and Carr combined for 13 points down the stretch to seal the win.

Coppenrath scored 24 straight points for Vermont during an 18:11 stretch, and scored 25 points in the first half.

Boston U. led by as much as nine points following a 10-2 run late in the first half and 34-31 at halftime.

The crowd of 5,738 was the largest regular-season attendance in America East history. It was the first men's basketball game played at Agganis Arena.
