WICHITA, Kan. (AP) -- Nate Funk scored 35 points to lead Creighton past Wichita State 82-68 Wednesday night.
Johnny Mathies added 15 points, making 5-of-5 from the floor, including two 3-pointers, for the Bluejays (16-10, 8-7 Missouri Valley Conference). Creighton swept the season series with the Shockers (18-5, 11-4) and handed Wichita State its second home loss.
Jamar Howard led the Wichita State with 12 points. Paul Miller and P.J. Couisnard scored 11 each for the Shockers, who lost consecutive games for the first time this season.
Wichita State took a 38-31 lead into halftime, but Mathies scored the first eight points of the second half, as the Bluejays used a 21-5 run to take a 52-43 lead with about 12 minutes remaining. Creighton never again trailed.
The Shockers pulled within seven on a Miller layup with about five minutes left. But on the next play, Creighton pushed the lead back to 67-57 on a Funk three-point play. Wichita State would not get closer than 10 the rest of the way.
