RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Nick George scored 21 of his career-high 33 points in the second half Wednesday helping Virginia Commonwealth Rams hold off Delaware's Blue Hens 83-73 in Colonial Athletic Association basketball.
George, who was 11-of-15 from the field, outdueled Delaware's Harding Nana, who matched his career-high with 30 points.
The Rams (5-10, 11-5) never trailed. VCU led by as many as 14 points in the first half before Nana scored 13 points during an 18-8 Blue Hen run that cut the margin to 36-32 with 2:58 remaining. The Rams scored the last two baskets of the half, taking a 40-32 halftime lead.
Delaware (10-16 7-8) scored the first seven points of the second half. George hit a free throw and two consecutive 3-pointers to stretch the lead to 47-39 with 15:09 remaining, and the Blue Hens could get no closer than four.
Michael Doles added 19 points and Alexander Harper 13 for the Rams.
Andrew Washington scored 20, 18 in second half, for the Blue Hens. Raphael Madera added 10. Nana pulled down 11 rebounds for his 16th double-double for the season.
