SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) -- Chris Thomas scored 21 points and Chris Quinn added 18, making all four of his 3-point attempts, to lead Notre Dame to a 70-64 victory over Georgetown on Wednesday, giving coach Mike Brey his 100th victory with the Fighting Irish.

The Irish (15-7, 7-5 Big East) used a 17-2 run in the first half and forced 17 turnovers by Georgetown to help overcome 51 percent shooting by the Hoyas, who outscored the Irish 36-10 in the paint and had a 30-23 rebounding advantage.

Despite shooting 63 percent in the second half, the Hoyas (16-7, 8-4) were never able to get any closer than five points _ and that came on a 3-pointer by Tyler Crawford with 6.9 seconds left.

Thomas moved into third place on Notre Dame's all-time scoring list with 2,099, moving ahead of Pat Garrity (2,085). Colin Falls added 13 points for the Irish, and Torin Francis had 11. The Irish got only one point off their bench. Brandon Bowman led Georgetown with 17 points and seven rebounds, Roy Hibbert had 15 points, and Ashanti Cook added 11 points.

Brey tied John Jordan (1951-64) as the second fastest Irish coach to get to 100 wins, doing it in 151 games. George Keogan (1923-43) holds the school record, doing it in 130 games. Digger Phelps, who announced the game, won 100 in 155 games.

The Irish took command with a 17-2 run late in the first half, holding Georgetown without a basket for 10:28. The run started after Georgetown cut Notre Dame's lead to 11-10 on a free throw by Roy Hibbert. The Irish went nearly four minutes without scoring before Quinn hit a 3-pointer to start a run of threes.

It started with 3-pointers by Quinn and Thomas and a three-point play by Francis. After Quinn made a pair of free throws, Falls was fouled attempting a 3 and made all three free throws. Quinn then hit another 3-pointer to give the Irish a 28-12 lead.

Hibbert finally scored inside with 2 minutes left to end an 0-for-6 shooting streak during which the Hoyas turned the ball over seven times, finishing with 11 at the half. The Hoyas trailed 30-17 at halftime.

The Hoyas closed to 40-34 when Cook drove the lane and scored midway through the second half. But they got not closer until the closing seconds.
