YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) -- Markus Austin, who scored 16 points, was among five players to lead the way with double-digit totals in Eastern Michigan's 79-63 win over Northern Illinois on Wednesday night.
Darryl Garrett scored 14 for the Eagles (12-12, 5-9 Mid-American), while Michael Ross, Craig Cashen and John Bowler had 12 each. Bowler added 12 rebounds. Ross had 10 in the first 20 minutes and Eastern Michigan was 5-of-11 in 3-point shots.
Mike McKinney led Northern Illinois (9-14, 5-10) with 22 and James Hughes added 14.
Eastern Michigan led 43-26 at halftime and held on for the victory. The Eagles' biggest lead of the game was 22 points, 53-31, in the second half after Austin's two free throws with 15:59 left.
