WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) -- Blake Hamilton scored 23 points to lead Monmouth past Mount St. Mary's 67-62 in a Northeast Conference game on Wednesday night.
Monmouth (13-10, 12-2 NEC) broke open a close game with a 13-4 run early in the second half. Hamilton _ who was 11-of-12 from the free throw line _ started and ended the run with free throws and had five points overall during the outburst.
Dejan Delic added 10 points and four steals for the Hawks, while Marques Alston had eight points, five rebounds and two blocks. Monmouth, which also forced 18 turnovers, maintained it one-game conference lead with the win.
Charles Cook had six 3-pointers and a season-high 24 points for Mount St. Mary's (6-17, 4-10 NEC). Mychal Kearse had a double-double for the Mountaineers, scoring 11 points and pulling down a career-high 14 rebounds.
