OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- Nate Funk and Kellen Miliner each scored 20 points and combined for 11 of Creighton's school-record 20 3-pointers, lifting the Bluejays to a 100-68 victory over Chattanooga on Saturday.
The Bluejays (17-10) surpassed their previous record of 16 3-pointers set in an 84-79 loss to Evansville in January 1999.
Miliner had six of the 3-pointers as the Jays broke the Missouri Valley Conference record of 18 set by Southern Illinois.
It was the fourth time this season an opponent of Chattanooga (16-9) set a team record for 3s. The others were Ohio State, Georgia Southern and Appalachian State.
Creighton trailed 25-24 before taking control and cruising past the Mocs with a 24-5 spurt in the final 8 minutes of the first half. Funk started a 7-0 run to put the Jays up by six. It was 38-30 with less than 2 minutes left in the half but Funk and Mathies combined to score 10 points for a 48-30 halftime lead.
The Mocs came no closer than 16 points in the second half.
Mathies finished with 15 points and Dane Watts added 10 for the Bluejays.
Mindaugus Katelynas and Matt Malone each had 11 points for Chattanooga.
Although not televised, the first-ever matchup of the schools was part of ESPN's Bracket Buster series.
