BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) Bryan Boerjan scored 21 points for the Bulldogs to lead Samford to a 84-75 victory over Jacksonville State on Tuesday.
J. Robert Merritt added 20 points for Samford (15-11, 10-5 Ohio Valley Conference) and Randall Gulina had 13. Jon Mills and Jerry Smith each added 11 for the Bulldogs. The team shot 62.8 percent from the field.
The score tied seven times in the first half but the Bulldogs never trailed. Samford led 35-30 at the half.
Walker Russell led the Gamecocks (7-21, 2-13) with 21 points and had a game-high six rebounds and game-high five assists. Anthony Wilson added 20 and shot 3-of-5 from 3-point range. Brandon Davis scored 13 points, Tim Lewis had 11 and B.J. Spencer added 10. The Gamecocks shot 55.8 percent from the field.
