KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) Quinton Day had 22 points and six assists to lead Missouri-Kansas City to a 77-70 Mid-Continent Conference win over Oral Roberts on Tuesday night.
Day was one of four Kangaroos (15-9, 11-2 Mid-Con) in double figures. Brandon Temple had 19, Carlton Aaron had 16 points and 14 rebounds and Mike English had 16 points.
Caleb Green led Oral Roberts (21-6, 11-3) with 26 points and 19 rebounds. Larry Owens had 11 points before fouling out with 2:31 left to play, and Mickey Mihalec added 10 points for the Golden Eagles.
The score was close for much of the game. It was tied 33-33 at halftime, and UMKC trailed 56-54 with 6:10 left before going on an 11-0 run to take control. Day had the last six points in that run, including a drive with 2:53 left to give the Kangaroos a 65-56 lead.
UMKC connected on 10-of-14 free throws in the last 2:53 to protect the lead.
The win broke Oral Roberts' six-game winning streak and moved the Kangaroos into first place in the conference. The Golden Eagles went from first to second with the loss.
