BOONE, N.C. (AP) Herbert Jones scored 18 points and Chris McFarland added 17 points and nine rebounds to help Appalachian State beat Western Carolina 72-54 Tuesday night.
Noah Brown added 12 points for the Mountaineers (16-10, 9-6 Southern Conference).
David Berghoefer had 16 points and nine rebounds for Western Carolina (8-20, 3-12). The rest of the team shot a combined 26 percent from the field and no other player scored more than eight points.
Both teams shot less than 40 percent in the first half and Western Carolina trailed just 32-30 at halftime.
The Catamounts made just 9-of-30 attempts in the second half and were just 2 of 12 from 3-point range as they slipped further behind.
