BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- Chris Alexander scored 19 points and had four assists as Southern University defeated Alcorn State 85-53 on Saturday.
Southern (13-12, 10-6 Southwestern Athletic Conference) led 32-27 at halftime and opened up a 14-point lead in the second half less than four minutes into the half. Midway through second, the Jaguars sported a 25-point lead.
Thompson had 21 points for Alcorn (6-21, 5-11) and DeAndre Jones added six.
Deon Saunders, Jerimie Collier and Trayvean Scott each scored 13 and Mott added 11 for Southern.
Southern scored 23 points on turnovers to Alcorn's 12. The Jaguar bench contributed 34 points to Alcorn's 18 from the bench.
Southern outrebounded Alcorn 46-31.
