RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) -- Matt Witt hit a 3-pointer in the final minute and scored 17 points to lead Eastern Kentucky over Austin Peay 70-66 Saturday night.
Witt's 3-pointer broke a 62-62 tie and gave the Colonels (19-8, 11-5) a No. 2 seed heading into next week's Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.
Austin Peay (11-18, 9-7 OVC) made it 68-66 on Levi Carmichael's 3-pointer with 2.6 seconds left, but Witt sealed the win by making two free throws with less than a second left on the clock.
Michael Haney added 16 points and 12 rebounds and Zach Ingles had 11 points for the Colonels.
Austin Peay scored eight of the last nine points of the first half for a 35-31 halftime lead. Todd Babington led the Governors with 13 points, while Anthony Davis and Maurice Hampton added 11 points each.
