CONWAY, S.C. (AP) -- Jakob Sigurdarson scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead Birmingham Southern to a 68-55 victory over Coastal Carolina on Saturday.
The Panthers (15-13, 7-9 Big South Conference) took an early 9-2 lead and never trailed. They led 35-27 at halftime.
Coastal Carolina (10-18, 7-9) cut the to 38-37 with 15:33 left in the game but the Panthers went on a 11-2 run. The Chanticleers again cut the lead to five with 5:20 to go, but Birmingham Southern's 13-5 run sealed the victory.
James Collins added 14 points and Vitas Augustinas added 11 points and seven rebounds.
Jack Leasure and Pele Paelay had 10 apiece for the Chanticleers.
Birmingham Southern earned the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament and will host Radford on Tuesday. Eighth-seeded Coastal Carolina heads to Rock Hill on Tuesday to meet top-seeded Winthrop.
