ITTA BENA, Miss. (AP) -- Jessie Taylor and Hosea Butler each scored 15 points to lift Mississippi Valley State to a 80-71 win over Jackson State Saturday night.
Ronald Alexander added 13 points for MVSU (12-13, 10-6 Southwestern Athletic Conference). Freshman Stanford Speech tacked on 12.
Kelly Ross and Dakari Wallace led Jackson State (12-15, 8-7 SWAC) with 17 points apiece.
Valley hit 47.5 percent from the floor and held Jackson State to 39.6 percent.
Charlie White returned for Jackson State after serving a three-game suspension for punching a Southern U. player, finished with nine points.
