EMMITSBURG, Md. (AP) -- James Williams scored 14 points as Long Island beat Mount St. Mary's 72-66 Saturday.
Aubin Scott added 13 points and a game-high 13 rebounds for the Blackbirds (13-14, 10-8), while Kellen Allen and Randy Jones added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Jason Carbone scored a career-high 15 points for Mount St. Mary's (7-19, 5-12 NEC). Landy Thompson added 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists, and Mychal Kearse had 10 points and 11 boards for the Mount.
Mount St. Mary's took a 14-6 lead in the first five minutes, keyed by three 3-point field goals.
A 7-3 run gave the Mount a 34-29 lead at halftime.
Long Island went on a 14-1 run to start the second half, and led 45-37 with 12:45 left in the game.
Trailing 50-41 with 10:44 left, the Mount went on an 18-9 run to make it 59-59 with 3:24 left.
But Long Island scored the next six points, then hit seven-of-eight from the line to seal the win.
