MALIBU, Calif. (AP) -- Alex Acker had 23 points, including 18 in the second half, as Pepperdine rallied for an 82-76 comeback win over Loyola Marymount in the regular-season finale for both teams Saturday night.
With the win, Pepperdine (16-13, 6-8) secured the fifth seed in the West Coast Conference Tournament, where the Waves will again play Loyola Marymount (11-16, 3-11), the eighth seed, in the first round on Friday.
Glen McGowan and Yakhouba Diawara added 15 and 13 points, respectively, for Pepperdine, while Kingsley Costain had 12 off the bench. Costain's 3-pointer _ his fourth of the game _ with 1:10 left to play gave the Waves the lead for good at 78-76.
Loyola Marymount missed its last four shots in the final minute.
Charles Brown had a game-high 24 points for Loyola Marymount and Brandon Worthy added 16.
The Lions led by 14, 27-13, with 11:02 to play in the first half after making 11 of their first 12 shots. But the Lions went just 3-for-14 the rest of the half as Pepperdine rallied to close to within four, 36-32, at halftime.
The Waves then went on a 12-0 run over the first four minutes of the second half to take control, but Loyola Marymount later answered with a 21-7 run to take a 74-73 lead with 2:30 left.
McGowan and Worthy then traded layups before Costain's 3-pointer from the top of the key provided the game's fifth and final lead change.
