JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) -- Arkansas State rode balanced scoring and hot shooting in the second half to beat New Mexico State 90-76 in a Sun Belt Conference game Saturday.
The Indians (15-12, 7-7 SBC) trailed 45-40 at halftime, but shot 52.8 percent after the break to pull away from the conference's last-place team (5-23, 1-14).
Arkansas State was led by Marcus Ardison's 19 points. Dewarick Spencer added 18, J.J. Montgomery had 14 and Jerry Nichols put in 13 off the bench. The Indians were able to go deep into their bench, playing all 14 who dressed.
New Mexico State went cold in the second half, following up a 59.3-percent performance before halftime with an 8-for-28 display in the final period, for 28.6 percent.
Duane John provided most of the scoring with 24 points. Josh Jenkins had 14 off the bench and Jeff Jones, the lone front-line player in the Aggies' four-guard starting set, had 11.
