MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) -- Kevin Pittsnogle scored 14 points and 11 different West Virginia players scored in a 76-58 win over Rutgers on Saturday.
Pat Beilein scored 12 points and Tyrone Sally and Joe Herber each added 11 for West Virginia. Sally became the 41st player in school history with 1,000 points.
Quincy Douby and Ricky Shields led Rutgers with 18 and 14 points, respectively.
The Mountaineers (18-8, 8-7 Big East), once an NCAA tournament afterthought, won their fourth straight and sixth in seven tries. West Virginia, 12-7 at one point, now has the most wins since its previous NCAA appearance in 1998.
In the first half, West Virginia made 15-of-26 field goals and seven of 11 3-pointers. The 3-point barrage helped WVU take a 28-18 lead with 7:12 left in the first half.
The Scarlet Knights (9-16, 2-12) got no closer than six points the rest of the way in losing for the ninth time in 11 games. Rutgers has lost eight straight on the road.
With one regular-season game left, the Mountaineers set a school single-season record with 664 3-point attempts, eight more than the mark set last year.
West Virginia's D'or Fischer had two blocked shots to give him 180 for his two-year career at WVU, breaking the mark of 178 held by Phil Wilson. Fischer's 382 total career blocks, which includes two seasons at Northwestern State, rank 18th in NCAA history.
