LOGAN, Utah (AP) -- Jaycee Carroll scored 22 points and Spencer Nelson added 21 Saturday to lead Utah State past UC Irvine 87-49.
Nelson had five rebounds and five assists for the Aggies (21-7, 12-5).
The Anteaters (13-12, 6-10) were led in scoring by Aaron Fitzgerald's 17 points and Greg Ethington's 10. Fitzgerald scored all his points in the first half.
UC Irvine was unable to score in the second half until the 16:05 mark. Meanwhile, Utah State went on a 10-0 run during that stretch to extend its lead to 24 points.
Though both teams held the lead several times during the first half, Utah State took a 44-30 halftime edge behind 6-for-9 shooting from behind the 3-point line.
Carroll scored the first 12 points of the game for the Aggies on four 3-pointers.
UC Irvine's leading scorer, Ross Schraeder (13 points), shot only 3-for-11 and finished with eight points.
The Aggies, who are battling Cal State Northridge for second place and a first-round conference tournament bye in the Big West Conference, outrebounded the Anteaters 36-27.
