MIAMI (AP) -- Ivan Almonte scored 23 points and Ismael N'Diaye added 20 Saturday in Florida International's 79-77 win over Western Kentucky.
Florida International (11-15, 4-9 Sun Belt Conference) went on an 18-6 run in the last 4 minutes to take the lead from the Hilltoppers (20-7, 9-5).
Antonio Haynes made a free throw giving Western Kentucky a 74-71 lead with 1:12 to go. Then Florida International scored eight points, including lay-ups by Almonte and N'Diaye that put the Golden Panthers ahead for the first time in the second half, to secure the win.
Five players scored in the double digits for Western Kentucky: Courtney Lee had 19, Anthony Winchester scored 15, Elgrace Wilborn and Antonio Haynes each added 12 and Ty Rogers had 10.
The Hilltoppers shot 50.0 percent from the field, compared to the Golden Panthers' 60 percent.
