HOUSTON (AP) -- Marques Lewis had 12 points and 12 rebounds as Alabama-Birmingham ended the regular season with a 71-66 win over Houston on Saturday night.
Marvett McDonald and Donell Taylor added 13 points for UAB (20-9, 10-6 Conference USA), which won its fourth straight and handed the Cougars just their second home loss of the season.
UAB, which trailed at the half, held Houston (18-12, 9-7) to just 30 percent shooting in the second half.
Andre Owens led Houston with 23 points and seven rebounds. Lanny Smith added 20 points.
Houston was held without a field goal for nearly the last four minutes.
Both teams now advance to the conference tournament that begins Wednesday.
