FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) -- Jamaal Brown scored 19 points and made a tip-in at the buzzer to give Cal State Fullerton a 72-70 victory over Cal State Northridge on Saturday night.
Ralphy Holmes added 14 points, 13 rebounds and a career-high 10 assists for the Titans (18-9, 12-6 Big West), who will be seeded third in next week's conference tournament. Yaphett King had 16 points.
Davin White scored 19 points and Ian Boylan added 13 points for the Matadors (17-12, 12-6), who will be seeded fourth.
Northridge, which trailed by as many as 13 points in the first half, tied the score on White's 3-pointer with 26 seconds to play after the Matadors forced a turnover.
On Fullerton's ensuing possession, Holmes shot a 17-foot fall-away jumper that hit the backboard. But Brown tipped the ball into the basket as time expired.
The Titans, who have won 10 of their last 12, enter the conference tournament with their best league record since 1983-84 and their best overall record since 1982-83.
Fullerton and Northridge tied for third place, but the Titans received the third seed because they swept the two-game season series against the Matadors.
