CINCINNATI (AP) -- Stanley Burrell scored a game-high 25 points and Will Caudle came off the bench to record a double-double in Xavier's 74-65 win Saturday over Dayton to close the Atlantic 10 rivals' regular season.
The Musketeers (16-11, 10-6) never trailed in the game that gave them the last of four byes in the first round of the conference tournament, which starts Wednesday in Cincinnati.
Dayton (17-10, 10-6), which went into the game tied with George Washington for first place in the West Division, ends the regular season with two losses in its last three games.
Caudle tied his career-high with 18 points, including a three-point play on an authoritative dunk and free throw with 3:03 left after the Flyers had cut Xavier's lead to three points. He also led both teams with a career-high 13 rebounds, five more than his previous career-high of eight.
Mark Jones scored 15 points to lead Dayton. The Flyers missed their first six shots from the field while Xavier was going 5-for-7 and building a 14-0 lead. Doellman's 3-pointer gave the Musketeers their biggest lead, 17-2, with 11:55 left in the half.
Xavier finished the half with a .524 field-goal percentage (11-for-21), while Dayton shot just .261, but the Flyers cut the deficit to six points twice in the last five minutes of the half.
