RICHMOND, Va. -- Nick George scored 21 points and Michael Doles added 13 Saturday night, leading Virginia Commonwealth to a 74-61 victory against Delaware in the quarterfinals of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament.
The defending champion Rams (18-11) led 37-27 at halftime and by as many as 15 in the second half.
Delaware (11-20) lost despite a huge performance by Harding Nana, who had 27 points and 19 rebounds for his 19th double-double of the season. Andrew Washington added 13 points for the Blue Hens, and only four other players scored for the No. 7 seed.
George, a junior forward, also grabbed seven rebounds and capped an 8-0 first-half run with a free throw for his 1,000th career point. He was joined in the 1,000-point club by Delaware's Mike Slattery in the second half when Slattery made a jumper.
