RICHMOND, Va. -- John Goldsberry and Aaron Coombs scored 14 points each and North Carolina-Wilmington held George Mason to 34 percent shooting Saturday night in beating the Patriots 60-47 in the Colonial Athletic Association quarterfinals.
The Seahawks (19-9) advance to Sunday's semifinals, where they will play Virginia Commonwealth. The second-seeded Rams beat Delaware 74-61 earlier in the night.
George Mason finished at 16-13.
The third-seeded Seahawks opened the game with a 21-7 run, led 30-20 by halftime and never let the Patriots closer than eight in the second half. That came after just 23 seconds, and Wilmington immediately went on a 9-2 run to pull comfortably ahead.
T.J. Carter added 10 points for the Seahawks, who outrebounded George Mason 38-28.
The Patriots, who were just 1-for-13 on 3-pointers, were led by Lamar Butler and Jai Lewis with nine points each. Butler was 4-for-11 from the field, Lewis just 2-for-9.
