KENT, Ohio (AP) -- Jason Edwin scored 17 points and DeAndre Haynes added 16 to help Kent State defeat Ohio 82-65 on Saturday.
Jay Youngblood finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Golden Flashes (19-11, 11-7 Mid-American Conference), who shot 62 percent from the field in the second half and 48 percent in the game.
Sonny Troutman and Mychal Green scored 19 points apiece for the Bobcats (17-10, 11-7), who committed 15 turnovers.
Green made two free throws to give Ohio a 47-46 lead with 11:49 remaining but Kent State ripped off 19 of the next 27 points to go ahead. Youngblood started the surge with a 3-pointer and Scott Cutley finished it off with a three-point play.
The Golden Flashes closed out the Bobcats with an 8-1 run after Ohio rallied to cut the lead to 10 at the 2:12 mark. Demetrius Johnson had five of his nine points during the spurt.
Jeff Halbert had 10 points and seven rebounds for the Bobcats, who still managed to lock up the fourth seed in the conference tournament and will host Marshall in the first round on Monday.
Kent State is the fifth seed and will host Central Michigan on Monday.
