HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) -- Ricky Woods scored 21 points to help Southeastern Louisiana clinch the second seed in the Southland Conference tournament with a 58-55 win over Sam Houston State on Saturday.
Jonathan Patton added 14 points for Southeastern Louisiana (21-6, 13-3), which finished the regular season tied with Northwestern State for the conference's best record but lost the top seed through a tiebreaker.
Sam Houston State (17-11, 11-5) would have been the second seed with a victory but will instead be the third seed when the tournament opens Tuesday.
Ryan Bright led Sam Houston State with 17 points. Othello Alford and Wilder Auguste each added 12 points.
The Bearkats will enter the tournament losers of three straight.
