CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -Khalil Hartwell led Chattanooga with 19 points and 11 rebounds in an 86-70 win over College of Charleston on Saturday.
Chattanooga (5-4, 2-0 Southern Conference) roared to a 22 point lead at 8:25 in the first with Charleston (4-4, 1-1) shooting only 27 percent to Chattanooga's 50.
Charleston's shooting improved to 40 percent in the second half, but they couldn't catch Chattanooga, who never trailed.
The Mocs were helped by Stephen McDowell with 15 points and Marcus Watts and Kevin Bridgewaters with 12 each.
Tony White Jr. led an even scoring attack for College of Charleston with 12 points. Andrew Goudelock had 11 and three players scored 10: Jermaine Johnson, Antwaine Wiggins and Jeremy Simmons.
