CUPERTINO, Calif. (AP) -Ryan McCurdy had 14 points and 12 rebounds, and hit four free throws in the final minute to help Northern Arizona hold off San Jose State 62-57 on Saturday night.
Kyle Landry added 17 points for Northern Arizona (6-4), which shot 40 percent from the field but was just 2-of-18 from beyond the 3-point arc.
Justin Graham had 18 points for San Jose State (3-4), which was coached by assistant Donald Williams. Spartans coach George Nessman missed the game due to a family emergency.
Northern Arizona led 55-54 after San Jose State converted the Lumberjacks' 21st turnover into a layup with 41.9 seconds left. McCurdy was fouled and converted both free throws, then got a steal on the defensive end.
McCurdy got the defensive rebound on the next possession and hit two more free throws to push the lead to 59-54. Nate Geiser sealed the win with two free throws with 6 seconds left.
The game was played at De Anza College because The Event Center, where the Spartans typically play, was unavailable due to fall commencement.
