ELON, N.C. (AP) -Ola Atoyebi and Montell Watson had 16 points each and Elon remained undefeated in Southern Conference play with a 66-57 win over Wofford on Saturday night.
Atoyebi and Watson got the Phoenix (5-4, 3-0 SoCon) going early on. With the Terriers ahead 5-4, Elon took off on an 18-4 run to take control. Watson had five points during the charge and Atoyebi four and Elon went ahead 29-17 at the break.
Wofford opened the second half on a 14-2 run to tie things at 31-all.
The game stayed close with the Terriers trailing 42-40 after Tim Johnson's layup with 6:08 left. That's when Watson struck again, with two 3-pointers over the next four minutes. The second one put the Phoenix ahead 53-46 with 2:41 to go.
Monty Jordan and Watson added two foul shots each and Elon was in control, ahead by 11 with little over a minute remaining.
Atoyebi added seven rebounds and two steals, while Watson was 3-of-6 from three-point range.
Shane Nichols led the Terriers (4-3, 1-1) with 13 points while Drew Gibson had 11 points and six assists.
