ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -Eugene Spates scored 14 points and Matt Janning added 13 in Northeastern's 73-60 victory over IUPUI Tuesday in a first-round game of the Coaches vs. Cancer tournament.
The Huskies (1-0) will play the Michigan-Michigan Tech winner in Wednesday's regional final, while IUPUI (0-1) will play in the consolation game.
Nkem Ojougboh added 12 points for Northeastern, while Chaisson Allen added 11.
IUPUI's Robert Glenn led all scorers with 19 points off the bench and Alex Young added 17. The Jaguars hit just 2-of-17 3-point attempts.
Spates hit 3-pointers on Northeastern's first two possessions, turning the second one into a four-point play. The Huskies led 17-8 midway through the first half and the Jaguars never seriously threatened in the final 30 minutes.
