ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -Jon Avery had 16 points and 13 rebounds as IUPUI beat Michigan Tech 65-51 in a consolation-bracket game in the Coaches vs. Cancer tournament regional in Ann Arbor on Wednesday.
Michigan Tech scored the game's first basket, but the Jaguars answered with a 12-0 run and never trailed again. They led the Division II Huskies by as many as 15 points in the first half, then fended off a Michigan Tech run early in the second half before pulling away.
The Jaguars outshot Michigan Tech 50 percent to 26 percent in the game.
Alex Young added 15 points for IUPUI and Leroy Nobles scored 11.
Robby Springborn led Michigan Tech with 11 points and Fedrick Bowe added 10.
Michigan Tech (0-2) lost to Michigan in Tuesday's first round, while IUPUI (1-1) fell to Northeastern.
