KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) -Mark Socoby scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help Maine beat Kennesaw State 60-47 in the 100 Club Classic on Saturday night.
Troy Barnies, who as 8-of-8 from the field, finished with 16 points for the Black Bears (2-0). The Owls (1-1) shot just 27 percent from the field, making only 16-for-60 shots from the floor.
Jon-Michael Nickerson led Kennesaw State with 14 points. Kelvin McConnell had 12 points for the Owls, who n couldn't pull within seven points of Maine in the second half.
Maine opened the second half with a 9-0 run to build a 14-point lead. The Black Bears committed 23 turnovers and Kennesaw State out rebounded Maine - 19-8.
