TULSA, Okla. (AP) -Ben Uzoh scored 20 points to lead injury-depleted Tulsa to a ragged 50-43 victory on Saturday against crosstown rival Oral Roberts in the season opener for both teams.
Uzoh shouldered most of Tulsa's offensive load, as the Golden Hurricane was without forward Ray Reese, who had a leg injury, and center Jerome Jordan, who had cramps, for most of the second half.
Oral Roberts is rebuilding after losing four starters from last season's NCAA tournament team. The Golden Eagles' lone returning starter, Robert Jarvis, was hounded by Uzoh and others into a 4-of-19 shooting performance and scored 12 points.
Marcus Lewis added 11 points for Oral Roberts, while Glenn Andrews also had 11 for Tulsa in the lowest-scoring contest in the 46-game history of the rivalry known as the Mayor's Cup.
