HOUSTON (AP) -Jeremiah Dominguez scored 24 points, leading Portland State to a come-from-behind 78-74 win over Rice on Saturday.
Rice led 36-33 at halftime, but was outscored 45-38 in the second half.
Dominguez was 7 of 12 from the field, including four 3-pointers. Dominic Waters added 18 points for the Vikings (1-0), while Jamie Jones scored 13 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
Dominguez hit a key 3-pointer to give the Vikings a 76-70 lead with a minute to play. Waters hit two free throws in the final 26 seconds to help seal the win.
Cory Pflieger scored 17 points to lead Rice (0-1). Aleks Perka scored 15 points, and Trey Stanton had 14 for the Owls, who were playing in the newly renovated Tudor Fieldhouse.
