CHICAGO (AP) -John Cantrell scored 25 points and Tawrence Walton had 11 points and 10 rebounds to lead Chicago State to an 84-74 win over Central Michigan on Thursday.
Christian Wall scored 14 points, Mike Wilson and David Holston each added 11 points and Carl Montgomery had 10 points for Chicago State (2-1).
The Cougars shot 71 percent from field-goal range and had five 3-pointers to jump to a 45-33 halftime lead. But Chicago State dropped to 34 percent shooting and were 0-for-8 from beyond the arc in the second half.
Trips to the free-throw line helped the Cougars hold off Central Michigan (1-2). Chicago State sank 17-of-22 foul shots in the period.
Adrian Hunter led the Chippewas with 18 points. Jacolby Hardiman added 17, Chris Kellermann scored 15 and Jeremy Allen chipped in 12.
