CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) -Freshman Syvlen Landesberg scored 22 points and made two free throws with 29 seconds left to help Virginia edge Radford 68-66 Friday night.
The Cavaliers (3-0) trailed 29-27 at halftime and by as many as four points in the second half. Landesberg scored 10 points in the final 8:08 minutes of the game, including a pair of free throws to give Virginia the lead at 67-66.
Sammy Zeglinski scored 11 points for the Cavaliers.
Artsiom Parakhouski led the Highlanders (2-1) with 16 points, Joey Lynch-Flohr scored 15, Martell McDuffy had 13 and Kenny Thomas added 10.
The Highlanders gave the Cavaliers a tougher game than they did in their last meeting - a 95-47 rout in the 1996-97 season. Virginia now leads the all-time series between both schools at 5-0.
