CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -Alex Ruoff scored 25 points to lead West Virginia to a 76-42 win over Delaware State on Tuesday night.
The Mountaineers (3-0) raced out to an 11-0 lead in the opening three minutes thanks in large part to three 3-pointers by Ruoff. Ruoff, who sank six from behind the arc in the opening half, outscored the Hornets (1-6) 22-16 by himself in the first 20 minutes.
West Virginia punctuated the first half with a banked-in, buzzer-beating 3-pointer by Devin Ebanks to send the Mountaineers to the locker room with a 50-16 lead. The Mountaineers closed the first half on a 28-8 run over the final 10 minutes.
Da?Sean Butler scored 12 and Darryl Bryant added 10 for the Mountaineers in the Las Vegas Invitational on Tuesday night.
Frisco Sandidge led Delaware State with 16 points.
It was the fourth consecutive game in which the Hornets finished with 42 points.
