STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) -Drake Reed scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Austin Peay past Georgia Southern 77-66 on Saturday.
The victory ended the Eagles' non-conference home winning streak at 25 games and was the first win by an opponent in Hanner Fieldhouse since Dec. 8, 2002.
The Governors (3-2) used an 18-2 run in the first half to take a 40-30 halftime lead against the Eagles (2-3), who hadn't played a game in nine days.
Trailing by 14 early in the second half, Georgia Southern rallied to cut the lead to 60-57 with 6:46 left. A 3-pointer by Wes Channels with 1:29 to play gave the Governors an insurmountable lead.
Channels scored 16 points and Anthony Campbell chipped in 12 on 5-of-6 shooting.
Willie Powers scored a team-high 20 points for Georgia Southern and Julian Allen added 13.
The Governors won the rebounding battle 43-22.
