BOONE, N.C. (AP) -Isaac Butts scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, including five on the offensive end, to help lead Appalachian State to a 79-66 win against Campbell on Saturday.
The Mountaineers (2-2) jumped out to an 11-point lead early in the game on two free throws by Kellen Brand, and never looked back. Appalachian State stretched the lead to its largest point in the game when Butts hit a layup with 5:57 left in the first half for a 29-10 advantage.
The Mountaineers outrebounded Campbell (2-3) 40-33.
Eduardo Bermudez added 13 points for Appalachian State.
Campbell was led by Jonathan Rodriguez with 24 points. Jabil Bailey added 13, Lorne Merthie scored 11 and Kyle Vejraska added 10.
