CANCUN, Mexico (AP) -Marcus Pillow hit three three-pointers and scored a total of 13 points to lead Central Arkansas to a 58-53 victory Saturday over The Citadel in the Cancun Challenge.
Pillow, a junior guard from Russellville, also pulled down two rebounds and had two assists in the win for Central Arkansas (3-2). He led a balanced attack from the Bears, with Mitch Rueter, Mike Pouncy and Brooks Taylor each contributing 10 points.
Central Arkansas went into halftime with a 29-19 lead. However, The Citadel (3-3) outscored the Bears in the second half, keeping the game close until the end.
Demetrius Nelson scored 16 points in the loss, with Cameron Wells contributing 15 points for the Bulldogs. The Citadel hit 28 percent of its shots, while the Bears hit 45 percent - including going five for seven outside of the arc.
