LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. (AP) -Ryan Thompson scored 25 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead Rider to an 85-72 win over Cal State Northridge on Saturday.
Harris Mansell added 14 points and six rebounds for the Broncs (3-1), while Mike Ringgold had 10 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Tremaine Townsend led the Matadors (1-4) with 20 points and six rebounds, while Matt Wallace came off the bench to score 16 points.
The teams traded baskets early on before Rider took command with an 18-6 run that featured 11 points by Thompson. The Broncs led 41-31 at the break and then held double-digit leads for most of the second half.
Rider also won the battle of the boards, outrebounding the Matadors 46-35.
