NEW YORK (AP) -Charles Jenkins scored 21 of his game-high 23 points in the second half to lead Hofstra to a 65-61 victory over Manhattan on Saturday.
Jenkins broke a 61-all tie with 1:19 remaining on a driving lay up and connected on two free throws during the final 7 seconds to hand Hofstra their fourth win in five games this season.
Hofstra shot 50 percent (15-of-30) during the second half and overcame a 10-point deficit with 19 minutes remaining. Cornelius Vines was 4-of-6 from beyond the arc, finishing with 12 points.
Manhattan (3-2) was led by Chris Smith with 15 points.
Devon Austin scored 11 points to become the 29th player in Manhattan history to reach the 1,000th point milestone.
Hofstra has won the last two games in the rivalry between metropolitan New York schools.
