NEW ORLEANS (AP) -T.J. Worley scored 19 points to lead New Orleans to a 61-57 win over Southern on Saturday night.
Jaroslav Tyrna and Johann Mpondo scored 10 points apiece for the Privateers (1-4).
Chris Davis scored 12 points for Southern (0-4), while Brian Talley added 10 points.
Trailing 59-52 with 2:30 remaining in the game, Tim Brown had a three-point play and made a jumper to cut the deficit to two points with 1:29 left in the game for the Jaguars. But Southern failed to score again, missing three field goal attempts and two free throws in the final 30 seconds.
Southern shot 55.6 percent from the free-throw line (10-for-18) and committed 19 turnovers.
