LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) -Steve Harley scored 16 points to lead four Huskers in double figures as hot-shooting Nebraska opened up a 25-point halftime lead and rolled past Alabama State 80-51 Wednesday.
Nebraska (6-0) hit four 3-pointers in a 17-3 run that put the Huskers in control of the game, taking a 19-9 lead on Harley?s three-point play with 13:52 remaining in the first half.
Alabama State (1-4) stayed close for the next seven minutes. But a Ryan Anderson put-back triggered a 13-0 Husker run that ended with back-to-back Sek Henry 3-pointers to make the score 41-19 with 2:41 left in the half.
Nebraska hit nine of 13 3-point shots, in the first half. The Huskers were 9-for-17 from inside the arc.
The Huskers held the Hornets to just 30 percent shooting in the first half and turned seven Alabama State turnovers into 11 points.
Alabama State opened the second half in the zone to slow down the Nebraska assault and the Huskers went scoreless for more than three minutes to open the half. Then Nebraska hit four straight 3-pointers to go up 62-31 on Harley?s 21-footer with 14 minutes remaining.
Nebraska?s largest lead was 40 at 76-36.
Nebraska finished the game 14 of 25 from the 3-point line. The Huskers hit 17 of 33 two-point shots in the game.
Alabama State shot just 36 percent.
Joining Harley in double figures for Nebraska were Toney McCray with 12 points and Anderson and Henry with 11 points each.
Brandon Brooks led Alabama State with 14 points.
