SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -Senior guard Loren Leath had 31 points to help Sacramento State beat UC Davis 82-70 on Wednesday night in its first victory of the season.
Justin Eller had 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Mike Marcial had nine assists for the Sacramento State Hornets (1-5), who gave first-year coach Brian Katz his first win.
Dominic Calegari had 15 points and three rebounds, and Mark Payne added 14 points and nine rebounds for the UC Davis Aggies (2-6).
Leath scored 19 points in the first half, including a basket that gave the Hornets their biggest lead at 34-22 with 2:55 left in the first half. Leath also made 5 of 7 3-point shots to give the Hornets a 38-27 halftime lead.
The Hornets overall shot 53.6 percent (15 of 28) from the field in the first half to the Aggies? 33.3 percent (8 of 24).
