NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) -Alex Zampier scored a career-high 28 points to lead Yale over Holy Cross 76-66 on Wednesday.
Yale hit its first four 3-pointers of the contest to claim a 12-2 lead and never trailed again. The Bulldogs (2-4) scored a season-high 42 points in the first half and led 42-28 at the break.
Yale built the lead to 48-30 early in the second half after a Zampier jumper, but Holy Cross made a game of it with just under nine minutes to play when it went on an 18-7 run. The Crusaders, however, never got closer than seven the rest of the way.
Porter Braswell added 13 points and Garrett Fiddler had 10 for Yale.
Holy Cross (2-6) got 15 points from Andrew Beinert, who hit four three-pointers in the final two minutes of the contest. R. J. Evans and Greg McCarthy both scored 12.
