NEW ORLEANS (AP) -Darrian McKinstry came off the bench to score a game-high 16 points and made his first five shots from the field as New Orleans defeated Tulane 49-39 on Wednesday night.
Kyndall Dykes added 15 points on 6-of-17 shooting and New Orleans (2-4) held the Green Wave (4-3) to just 29.3 percent shooting (17 of 58). The Privateers beat their cross-town rivals for the seventh time in the last nine meetings and held Tulane to its lowest point total in the 44-game series.
Jaroslav Tyrna added 11 points and eight rebounds as the three Privateers combined for 42 of New Orleans' 49 points.
Robinson Louisme led Tulane with 15 points and no other Green Wave player scored more than six. Tulane was just 1-for-12 from 3-point range.
New Orleans shot only 37.5 percent from the field (18 of 48), but held Tulane scoreless for six minutes to build a 37-29 lead.
