FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) -Josh Akognon had 27 points, a career-high seven assists and six rebounds to lead Cal State Fullerton to a 79-65 victory over Central Michigan on Saturday night.
Marcio Lassiter added 13 points and Papa Guisse made five blocks for the Titans (4-5), who have won two of three.
Jacolby Hardiman scored 19 points for the Chippewas (2-5), who have lost three in a row and five of their last six. Marcus Van came off the bench for season highs of 14 points and 12 rebounds. Robbie Harman had 11 points and six assists.
Fullerton took an 8-1 lead before Central Michigan closed the margin to 10-7. But Akognon scored eight points during an 18-7 surge that extended the lead to 28-14 with 9:43 left in the first half.
The Titans built a 23-point halftime advantage by holding the Chippewas to four points in the final 2:27 of the half. Fullerton forced 13 turnovers in the first half and scored 17 points off of them.
