CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) -Kwadzo Ahelegbe scored 17 points and Northern Iowa jumped out to a 19-5 lead and coasted to a 69-49 men's basketball win over North Dakota on Saturday.
Ahelegbe was 6-for-8 from the field and made three of four 3-pointers for the Panthers (7-3) of the Missouri Valley Conference. North Dakota is in the first transition year from Division II to Division I.
The Panthers started the game on an 8-0 run and led 19-5 before the Fighting Sioux (4-3) made their first field goal.
Travis Brown and Jordan Eglseder had 12 points each for the Panthers.
North Dakota was led by Travis Bledsoe's 18 points. Daniel Harkins added 11.
N. Iowa outrebounded the Sioux 40-24.
